Welcome 1C
Dear students,
Unfortunately, we haven't been able to meet in person yet this week. If I'm right, Kate is talking to you as we speak, explaining to you how you need to set up your own blog and get started for next week. She'll also briefly touch on the idea of the speaker's corner and most importantly your projects.
As you can see, my blog is still set to last block - with students from the minor. Throughout this week I'll slowly start adding you guys to my list, but for this I need you to create your blogs. Use this website as a portal to all your fellow students' blogs. This site will also be the source of schedules, updates and other announcements that may need to be made.
I'll explain everything to you in greater detail next week, but for now, get to those projects!
I still look forward to meeting you and hope you're being nice to Kate ;)
Cheers,
Syreetha

Project Deadline
Dear students,
This is just to remind you of the deadline we set for your project outlines to be handed in.
Please e-mail me your research proposals before or on March 10 2009. Keep in mind that you need to do the following things when setting up your proposal:
• You need to choose an angle. Then formulate a research question and pinpoint what you want to find out about: e.g: What is the real attitude of school pupils to wearing school uniforms?
• You need to write 10 “wh- questions”. These should help you define what you want to find out. These need to be submitted to your teacher well in advance, so that they can be revised and refined.
You can find more information about the project here:
https://www.sharepoint.hu.nl/minor/Engelstaalencultuur/default.aspx?RootFolder=%2fminor%2fEngelstaalencultuur%2fCourse%20materials%2fUKOK!%20-%20Lint%20-%20Period%203%2008-09&FolderCTID=&View={17C6CFFA-C9BA-4580-891F-172DC3D9CD7D}
If you have any questions, send me an e-mail or ask me in class.
Best of luck,
Syreetha

Speaker's Corner
Dear students,
Have a look at the following video to get a good idea of what Hyde Park's speaker's corner is like. It can also provide with lots of useful topics of discussion.
